The Final Charts - 1/4/20 - Foozogz & PrinceWhateverer Top Trot 100, 4everfreebrony Debuts, Frozen Night Lands New Top 5, Toby Macarony Returns to Top 10

Thanks to a certain little event that occurred, this will still be the final full week chart of the Trot 100, but there'll be one last chart tied to a midweek, namely ending on December 31, 2019, the last day before my playlist nukes itself with the upcoming YouTube changes. It'll make sense, trust me. Anyway, check out the full chart past the break!

The Final Charts - 12/28/19 - Marcus Warner Lands Another Topper

Marcus Warner makes up for the little time left to chart and gets a new mega-smash: with the aide of promotion on third party network channels, his remake of Octavia featuring Brione Jackson surges 13-1 with a whopping 26,000 points, nabbing a late spot in the all-time list easily. He also has similar efforts going for lead single Friendship is Magic, which entrenches itself at #2, though with a more modest 4,600 points on its side. The top 10 is also bustling with activity, with BlackIce's new single Space Creature starting at #7 and 4everfreebrony's Super Fan returning at #6 (against a peak of #4) after being featured on the Ponies at Dawn channel. Just outside of the zone, Koa's To the Nines hits a new peak (20-11) thanks in part to a remix done by PegasYs. Check out the full chart past the break!

The End of the Trot 100

After almost 6 years of charts, I must sadly report that the Equestrian Trot 100 will be ending its run soon. There are several factors at play:

  • Overall activity has gone down. While the end of the show has briefly boosted numbers, they are already beginning to regress.
  • Incoming COPPA regulations appear to be hitting brony content quite hard with autotags. As of January 1, 2020, Made For Kids content will be unable to added to playlists, which is essential for my tracking system. In addition, other engagement options will be disabled and several channels are pulling or plan to pull their content by the date, meaning the Trot 100 will be rather unrepresentative of what's popular in any case.
  • I have more obligations now, namely a day job and a major hobby rhythm game project. Alone that wouldn't be enough, but with the rest, it's the straw breaking the camel's back.
As such, my intent is for the final chart to be the one dated January 4, 2020. After that chart is published, a final version of the all-time list will be published, adding in separately weighted points from 2019 and the stub of 2020.

This won't be the absolute end of everything related to the Trot 100. The CrownNote archives will be completed eventually, and the YouTube channel still has some videos to post (along with a correction for a few months at the beginning of the chart year), but this will be the end of new content. I thank everyone who's followed this chart in all of its avenues and I thank all of the musicians whose works made this chart possible throughout the years, with my best wishes to the ones still going to be able to survive the upcoming YouTube landscape.

2019 Chart Year - 11/16/19 - Week 51/53 - JoinedTheHerd Debuts at #1, 4everfreebrony Debuts at #2, John Kenza Climbs Into Top 10

After years of success under their current alias, JoinedTheHerd finally adds a ceremonial honor to their name: a #1, and a debut at that! Riding off the end of the show, their remix of Magic of Friendship Grows starts off at the summit, amassing 1,780 likes and 14,400 views in its first week. This was just enough to fend off the other big debut of this week: 4everfreebrony's familial turn on Soldiers of the Night, which he originally featured on, bringing along Lil' Everfree, his brother. That track nabs 1,810 likes and 13,300 views, being defeated by only 1.9% in chart points. Most of the top 10 ends up shifting down pretty uniformly, but one song does climb in: John Kenza's Friendship is Magic, shifting 12-10 for its first week in the zone. 2019 Chart Year - 11/2/19 - Week 49/53 - 4everfreebrony Nabs New Leader and New Top 10, Radiarc Debuts at #2, Toby Macarony and Silva Hound & PegasYs Climb Into Top 10

It seems the brony music scene is in a honeymoon state now that the show's concluded, as this week continues the hot streak of one of the most competitive top 10s of the year, with several songs over the 1,000 point mark, and plenty over 500. At our pole position is another one for the all-time books: Who Knows finally crowns the chart on its 37th week. This places it in a tie with Pegasus Device amongst the songs that took the longest to reach that mark:

  • 37 Weeks, "Pegasus Device", SlyphStorm, 2015

  • 37 Weeks, "Who Knows", 4everfreebrony feat. MilkyMomo, EileMonty, & MEMJ0123, 2019

  • 33 Weeks, "Discord", Eurobeat Brony, 2019

  • 25 Weeks, "Egomania", Silva Hound feat. BLACKGRYPH0N, 2017

  • 24 Weeks, "Soldiers of the Night", SlyphStorm, 2014

  • 22 Weeks, "Spectacular (The Spectacle)", PrinceWhateverer, 2016

  • 20 Weeks, "Come Alive", Silva Hound feat. Eurobeat Brony, 2015

  • 18 Weeks, "Back to You", Luna Jax feat. 4everfreebrony, 2017

  • 18 Weeks, "Wild Fire", Silva Hound & MandoPony, 2015

  • 17 Weeks, "Strangers", Scratch21 feat. EileMonty, 2015

  • 16 Weeks, "In a Rush", Vylet Pony, 2018

  • 16 Weeks, "The Magic Inside (I Am Just a Pony)", BassBeastJD, 2015

  • 13 Weeks, "Entropy", AwkwardMarina, 2014

  • It was a stacked week to pull it off, as Who Knows nabbed 8,500 chart points fueled primarily its recent animatic against 3 other songs in between 7,000 and 7,200 points, a sum that would guarantee a victory in most weeks. Leading the charge was Radiarc's Always There, re-entering at #2 (blasting past its #31 peak from its original run in 2018) thanks to its feature in a recent animation. Hot on its tail, Friendship is Magic (2019) climbs 4-3 in its second frame, and The Return of Harmony dips 2-4 while holding mostly even in terms of points. There are 3 other big nuggets: Toby Macarony jumps 18-6 with his remix of The Magic of Friendship Grows, Silva Hound and PegasYs (with StealingShad3Z as a feature) get Hands On to surge 58-8 thanks to a feature on a compilation channel, and 4everfreebrony starts his cover of Aviators' Someone Like Me at #9. 2019 Chart Year - 10/26/19 - Week 48/53 - PrinceWhateverer Returns to #1 With Solidarity, Top 10 Experiences Major Shakeup

It's the end of an era: the end of new Friendship is Magic episodes. As expected, this led to a flurry of activity, from remixes of the final song to tribute videos/songs to even a megacollab animation, the beneficiary of the latter being Solidarity (In This Together), which re-entered early last week at #4 and this week surges to #1. Hot off its heels is another posthumous entry for MelodicPony, whose The Return of Harmony orchestral suite was used in a tribute video from a prominent pony videomaker. The song starts at #2. In a more normal viral boost, what would probably go to #1 otherwise, Who Knows surges 33-3 off an animatic released this week, just shy of its original #2 peak. The rest of the top 10, barring Better down 2-6, are all new to the zone: Asunder (17-8) and My Legacy for You (21-9) hit their full force, while the others are debuts. Evening Star returns as Marcus Warner, revamping his Friendship is Magic track to start at #4, Magpiepony taps Jay Man once more, bringing PegasusPitchVA, for Our Happily Ever After (referencing the canon family of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich) at #5, The Wasteland Wailers, fronted by Brittany Church, get Friendship From Fire to erupt at #7, and BlackIce gets The Fuff to start at #10. Check out the full chart past the break!

NOTE: Due to a correction by YouTube removing about 10,000 views from Rainbow Always Here, it has been decided to amend its chart position. It now debuts at #68 instead of #8, and positions in between have naturally shifted.

2019 Chart Year - 9/28/19 - Week 44/53 - Eurobeat Brony Returns Atop for Fifth Week, Faulty & Silver Note Debut in Top 10

One important note: Discord (2019) is now referred to as Discord on the chart and has inherited the original's remixes and 2015 version's weeks. It has been determined that Discord 2019 falls under VIP status as opposed to a rerecord since the base vocal takes remain identical. This also means it benefits from points provided by other versions of the song. (i.e. it's probably gonna be atop the chart for a while) Anyway, check out the chart past the break!

2019 Chart Year - 6/8/19 - Week 28/53 - Toby Macarony Surges to #1, UndreamedPanic, Faulty, & Forest Rain Make Top 10 Debuts, Dental Dam Returns New to the Top 10

It's a hectic week, and as usual, a big cause of such fluster is the movement around the crowning spot. Toby Macarony, vanguard among fandom musicians taking on the latest tango-flavored showtune, jumps to #1 on the Trot 100 off of gains in both metrics. A 50% gain in likes and a 78% gain in views mean the song was bound to take the spot even without being weighted more for its second week of tracking. This nets him over 3,100 chart points, a welcome jolt from the past few weeks with sub-2,000 totals, and the biggest since Life Box's first week at #1, where it pulled in over 3,200 chart points.

Life Box itself is down to #2 and is the only song from last week's top 5 to remain in the zone, with Punk Rocks slipping 5-6 and Dome tumbling 2-8 as its compatriots. (Brony Piano Medley and Take Me Away, last week's #3 and #4, fall to #18 and #30 respectively) In their places are some fresh faces: The Day it Turns Around finally makes it on its fifth frame, up 8-5. Friends, the latest UndreamedPanic single, lands at #4. PelleK's metal take on the main theme returns to the zone, up 6-3.

Fresh stuff is afoot in the lower half of the zone as well: two new debuts arrive. Faulty's Ascend catapults to #9, and Forest Rain's Chrissy breaks out at #10. More peculiarly, Dental Dam returns to the chart, a minor hit from 2016, now at the lofty position of #7 (easily a new peak, besting its original #34 top) thanks to a new mix of the song which also adds TheMusicReborn to the track.

    2019 Chart Year - 2/23/19 - Week 13/53 - CG5 Leads Second Week, 5 New Top 10s

No rest for the charts this week as the top 10 gets flooded with debuts. The top 3, on the other hand, remains both strong and for the most part stagnant: Discord continues a safe lead at #1, Alternate Realities (3-2) and Brony Piano Medley (2-3) trade places, and The Scariest Costume holds at a strong #4. Past here, of course, is where the chaos begins happening, starting with 4everfreebrony's latest single Who Knows, pulling in MilkyMomo, EileMonty, and MEMJ0123 for an epic show tune number that lands at the lofty #5, putting up a close fight for the #4 spot in terms of chart points. Scraton makes his return to the charts as Mares in Black debuts at #6. Are You There is the last of our top 10s from last week to remain, down 6-7. Our only top 10 climber this week, Shine On by Drixale accumulates 12-8. Off the new compilation "Lunar New Year: Trash3D", Nightmare Moon Has a Speech Impediment starts at #9 thanks to promotion by the Cider Party channel. Finally, we've got Convergence from Vylet Pony debuting at #10, giving the Homeward album another top 10. Check out more past the break!

    2019 Chart Year - 2/16/19 - Week 12/53 - CG5, DAGames, & RichaadEB Debut at #1, One Track Mind, mikuma, & Vylet Pony Get Individual Top 10s

It's a hectic week on the charts, as, for the fourth week in a row, we've got a #1 debut at hand. This time, it's the return of fandom adjacent CG5, famous primarily for his covers and tributes to various videogame properties like Bendy and the Ink Machine, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Undertale. Last year on the chart, he made waves with his cover of "Open Up Your Eyes", which ended up as the second biggest song of the year. Now he's back with a rendition of fandom classic "Discord", specifically taking cues from the Living Tombstone remix. With over 140,000 views and 12,000 likes, it easily nabs the debut.

Tailing behind are the prior 2 #1 debuts: "Brony Piano Medley" by WeimTimeLLC at #2 and "Alternate Realities" by TPressleyJ & Ashley H. at #3. 3 other songs from last week's top 10 remain: "The Scariest Costume", with a notable points jump thanks to proxy attention from the Magpiepony-backed "Medley" in a nonindicative 3-4 slide, "Are You There", down 4-6, and "Shattered Gems", holding at #10 after its #1 start three weeks that started the current chain.

Our second big debut this week comes from One Track Mind, whose "Love Was in Bloom" starts at #5. Missing the Trot 100 on its first possible frame, promotion thanks to the Cider Party collective gives it a major rebound. Next up is mikuma, whose "Splash Damage" starts at #7, originally released through the Enigma compilation album. Finally, replacing her own song "Homeward" (down 7-50), Vylet Pony lands new single "Square One" in the top 10 at #8.

One song returns to the top 10, that being Evgeniy Doctor's "Hush Now Quiet Now", up 13-9. The song peaked at #2 just two weeks ago. Check out more past the break!
